This course is designed to help students explore a range of painting techniques and their passions. Each session will focus on a specific technique or style, building a broad set of skills that will allow students to express themselves creatively and develop their own style. Through demonstrations, fun creative exercises, and guided projects, students will explore how to use acrylics in different ways to create unique and dynamic artwork.
What You Will Learn in the Course Strokes and Styles
In this course we will work on multiple projects or assignments during each session that will challenge you to break the rules and question what is ‘known’ to you in terms of painting.
Students will be encouraged to playfully challenge their potential and be surprised with the outcomes while exploring diverse techniques. This course is not based on traditional/formal knowledge of painting but rather on passion and curiosity. Students are encouraged to interact and conduct conversations with the teacher as well as their peers about the subject of the day. At the end of all sessions, there is a discussion on the proceedings of the session to understand the experiences of students and learn from each other.
In each session we will focus on one unique painting technique/style and paint various subjects in it. This will broaden our understanding of which styles work best for your subject of interest and give us surprising insights. In the last two sessions of the course we will work on a final project where students will take a bit from all the topics discussed during the course and try to paint in their own style (which could be a mix of all but also a unique method that they figured out themselves).
Some of our styles of exploration are going to be cubic, abstract, illustrative, color field, impasto etc.
